Lenten Retreat 2020
What do you see when you look at the faces of men or women begging for money in the streets? Or the face of the person ringing up your groceries at the cash register? Or the face of the co-worker who isn’t as cooperative as you would like? What would it be like to look in those faces and find there – not objects of disdain or indifference - but the presence, the face, of God?
This morning of retreat and reflection is about growing in our ability to see God in the faces of those we encounter – both those that are like us and those that are not like us. As a corollary, it invites us to reflect on the extent to which we allow others to see God in us. To paraphrase Thomas Merton, if we could see each other that way all the time, there would be no more war, no more hatred, no more cruelty, no more greed.
The morning will include presentations, periods of silent reflection, and time for group sharing.
